The Center for Disease Control has awarded a project aimed at understanding the relationship between illegal dumping and violent crime preventing in Flint, MI, co-led by HSHE director Dr. Roshanak Mehdipanah and Dr. Marc Zimmerman, who leads SPH's Public Health IDEAS initiative on firearm prevention.
“By addressing illegal dumping we are able to not only improve neighborhood conditions but also increase the safety of residents,” said Mehdipanah.
